The Plaza

Schedule

Latest Film Club info

The Schedule below will be available on Saturday 2nd April so you know what is beeen shown at The Plaza in coming months.

Events have already been created for each film!

We don't expect each film to get people going and we definitely won't be going to each film (most are on twice a day!) but until we get an idea of numbers/preferred times/preferred film types Sue and I felt we would just put them ALL out there and see what you wanted! Hope that makes sense!

As far as doing a package with afternoon tea-again we are looking to gauge interest before we approach The Plaza for a deal!

Gardening update

Three lovely ladies got stuck in yesterday

One sewed seeds potted on seedlings and set begonias out to bud.

The other two sorted all the plants for sale and did a thorough clean up of the nursery bed area.

We all worked so hard I forgot the before and after photos. So here are some jolly pics of the front garden.

Book Club

Hi all-what great turnout for the first Cale Green WI book club!

I meandered down Shaw Heath to The Florist thinking I would be sat alone for a while awaiting everyone's arrival and I walked in to a lovely greeting of familiar faces! Thanks all for coming!

We have made a collective decision, suggested by Judith Beckett that we pick 2 books per month so that we have a choice!

You can read one or both and then just feedback on the one(s) you've read! Some books have little guides for reading groups so we can either use these of freewheel....see how we are feeling!

This months books are (picked a random!).....
1. Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
2. Her last tomorrow - Adam Croft
The next meeting is Thursday April 21st at 8:30pm in The Florist.
Fab to see you all....enjoy your reading and see you in a month!

Visit Harlow Carr Flower Show - 11th June

I spoke to Liz from the Heatons WI on Sat who was telling me about a visit to Harlow Carr on Saturday 11 June. It's open to all local WI groups in order to make it viable. Anyone interested?
Oh and did I mention there was a Betty's Tea Room on site!!!!!!
flower show

I asked her to send me more info  .....So If you are interested, please let me know at the next meeting.

............ We have chosen this date as it's their flower show with various stalls and the opportunity of buying plants etc. So I thought it may generate more interest.
So far I have had only about 8 people showing an interest. But I'm putting a sign up sheet at our next meeting in March. So we have probably got lots of spaces.
A coach has not yet been organised as I need more of an idea of numbers. A 49 seater coach works out about £10 per person and group rate entry on the day for more than 10 people is £9.
If we had to get a 29 seater it's a lot dearer. £356 for 29 as opposed to £485 for a few 49 seater.
We are happy to open it up to friends if it means filling the coach.
Please announce it at your meeting and guage interest and let me know.
Liz was going to announce it to Levenshulme WI and Angela is going to inform Didsbury WI also. Hopefully we can get a full coach between us.
Any queries please contact me.
Thanks
Karen Catchpole
