Your committee works VERY hard to ensure the (not always!) smooth running of Cale Green WI. We try to make the meetings fun & informative and ensure that you all feel included and welcomed.

We are always open to new suggestions and we have had a brilliant, terrifying, exhilarating year getting to grips with what it means to run a Women’s Institute!

We couldn’t have done it without you so THANKS AGAIN!

Committees - the role of the WI committee

The committee members are the trustees of the WI and are elected at the Annual Meeting. The committees’ duties are:
·         to conduct the business of the WI
·         to administer the funds
·         to suggest policy and plans of action and to present the same to the members for their approval

Additional members may be co-opted to the committee for specific duties and immediately become full members with equal rights and responsibilities.

Dual members are eligible to stand for election to the committee (see WI Constitution Rule 15 (b)

Committee members can be effective by:
·         being aware of the Constitution and Rules
·         knowing the correct procedure
·         attending regularly and punctually
·         being well prepared - read all papers, etc
·         participating in the discussion
·         being bound by the decisions of the committee
·         remembering that the business of the committee is confidential
·         encouraging WI members to share experiences and learn from each other

Sub-committees (we call them clubs)

These give the opportunity to develop members' specific interests; for example, craft work, drama, sport, and music. Each should appoint a Chairman, who reports to and is responsible to the main committee. The sub-committee may not hold funds, therefore all monies received and all expenses incurred are transacted through the Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer.  See WI Constitution Rule 28

* Please note that whilst the completion of the WI Committee Member's Declaration form is not compulsory, it is recommended that committee members be asked to declare their eligibility when taking on such roles. The statements made in the form are taken directly from rule 26 of the WI Constitution and Rules. The completed forms should be retained by the WI and destroyed when trustees leave office.
